Backstage: Slow Chaos

This ultra-slow-motion single-take commercial was filmed at an absurd 750 frames per second, which means the cacophony of events all took place in a one-second window! The actors had to hit their marks absolutely perfectly for the big payoff.

IMPACT FACTS

  • Filmed in an office with no air conditioning on a record high temperature day. Massive lights, necessary for filming at that frame rate, only increased the temperature further.
  • The lights are practically blinding so the lead actor had to wear shades between takes.
  • 8 actors’ actions were timed and choreographed to hit their marks in unison when ACTION was called.
  • Wardrobe department had to have duplicate outfits on-hand for actors that repeatedly got splashed with water each take. The wet clothes were blow dried between takes and made several rotations that day!
